WHANGAREI

hurupaki school

Developed in response to ongoing roll growth, this project delivers a targeted learning extension that enhances both teaching capacity and student support within the existing school site. The scope includes the construction of two new classrooms with integrated breakout spaces, alongside a dedicated Learning Support Coordinator space, creating a flexible and inclusive learning environment.

The design prioritises adaptability and connection to the existing school site but also the landscape beyond. Breakout spaces are positioned to support small group learning, collaboration, and individual focus. Careful consideration was given to scale, natural light, and visual connectivity to ensure the new spaces integrate seamlessly with the wider school while providing a calm and supportive setting for diverse learning needs.

The Learning Support Coordinator space is thoughtfully located to balance accessibility and privacy, reinforcing the school’s commitment to inclusive education. Together, the new learning environments support contemporary pedagogies, meet Ministry of Education guidelines, and provide a resilient, future-focused addition to the school.
