WHANGAREI

KENSINGTON
HOSPITAL

This alteration project consisted of an extensive staged refurbishment of the reception, administration, consulting, and resources management of a busy private hospital following the hospital expansion into a recently vacated section of the building. A key design requirement was the rearranging of the circulation within the hospital to not only join the existing hospital spaces to the new area, but to also ensure safe and efficient patient management throughout the redevelopment.

A new inwards goods and management area was created to address a previous bottleneck issue with the hospital’s resources management, and ensure an efficient flow of resources in, through and out of the facility. This addition also included a relocated medical gas storage area, accessible from a dedicated deliveries area away from the main hospital entrance. The alterations also included the establishment of a multi-functional recovery area providing a modernized second stage recovery facility for day stay patients and added overflow capacity for the existing PACU and IPU ward when required.
